I had never heard of Lustron Homes till now!
Introduced in 1947 they were a modern marvel at the time, a pre-fab house made completely of enamel coated steel. Both inside and out!
The company was based in Columbus, Ohio and shipped the homes, designed by Morris Beckman, all over the country. The houses originally sold for between 8,000-9,500 and were then assembled on site. Of the over 50,000 homes sold in the companies short 3 year existence, only about 2000 still remain standing.

Alright, so…for as long as I can remember I’ve wanted a Eames chair. I know I’ll never be able to afford a real one. One glorious rainy day, on the way to a friends house, I see a diamond among the rough! A knockoff Eames chair sitting sadly in the mist. I HAD TO BRING IT HOME WITH ME. Regardless of its rust and cobwebs and possible bug guts? I had to have it. I somehow fit it in the trunk of my coupe saturn and returned home GIDDY with excitement. As soon as I pulled in the driveway my fiance gave me a look of terror. WHAT THE HELL IS THAT? ITS A EAMES KNOCKOFF HUNNY! YOU DONT EVEN UNDERSTAND!!! Haha.
Well, safe to say, as much as I love DIY, this chair really was too far gone for me to repair unless I wanted to shovel out a few hundred bucks. Not worth it my dad tells me. So sadly my dream was dead. However, after much research I came across this beauty. She’s so lovely! What with her undulating curves and honey grained wood. That black leather! *sigh* So what’s stopping me from taking that $1000 I got back from taxes and ordering her on the spot? Um….I kinda like my fiance and I think he’d be a LITTLE upset! So for now, this gorgeous eye candy will have to do in my “THINGS TO BUY THIS WEEK!” folder on my computer. (You like how it’s ‘this week!’ I have about 100 links in there going back close to a year haha)
